I have spent half my life in the flat lands of the Midwest and half in the valley of East Tennessee with a brief stay in cloudy mist of London England. I have been surrounded by art and its makers for all of my life. When I changed my major from biology to art, no one was too surprised. I have studied art since I was a young child up through my current days. Durring that time I attained a degree in the Fine Arts (concentrating in the media arts) from University of Tennesse’s School of Art.

If I could attach a camera to my eyeball and control it with my imagination that would then produce a physical image……. I would. For now I must use what I have to try and capture what I see in the minds eye.

"My fascination for photography started when my mother took me to a darkroom photography class. I was still in grade school. I remember vividly the emotion I felt as I watched the image appear magically on the page. That magic is still with me today.

Through my photography I try to realistically capture the essence of each individual through the use of lighting, expression, and by allowing them to be themselves in front of the camera. Portrait photography to me is an interaction between myself, the camera, and the personality. I try to facilitate a natural interaction. My main objective with my portraits is to simply enhance the individual’s true self. I feel my success comes from a genuine enjoyment of that interaction."
